    I wrote a post a long time ago about brits being cast as villains, and used Magneto as one of my main points.

    You have a pretty good list, and it seems to me that good genres for this type of thing appear to be comic books and mythology...

    And classic horror movies (most of which are pulled from classic horror novels). Yeah, I noticed that Mythology is absolutely riddled with sympathetic villains, too. People who are cursed by the gods into monsters, and who lash out as a result, but who aren't necessarily evil.
