I've always been a fan of the short story, but these are crazy.

I assume most of us have seen the acme of short story writing (via Hemingway)
"For sale: baby shoes, never used."

This meme pops up every now and again, and I always see a few results that impress me. Most of them are ridiculous puns or gags, and are just groan inducing or don't tell a story so much as reference a pop-culture icon (Parents shot. No Therapy. Batman born), but some of them are actually pretty darn good.

    Some from the big names-
Machine. Unexpectedly, I’d invented a time - Alan Moore
"I saw, darling, but do lie." - Orson Scott Card
Starlet sex scandal. Giant squid involved. - Margaret Atwood
He read his obituary with confusion. - Steven Meretzky

A few of my favorites from online-

    "You shouldn't be here."
    "I know."

    "What's up?"
    "Are you sure?"

Falling snow erases more than footprints.

Words failed me; so did kevlar.

"It's time," she said. I sighed.

"No strings attached," the Devil promised.

Six word story? "Impossible," he decided.

With only six words, punctuation's everything.

It was a pleasure to burn.

Her tragic lie: "I love you."

He lingered. And then quietly fell.

And a few that I actually did find funny:

Down three to Yanks- Sox win!

I'm quite sure it's not loaded...

Brain surgery home kit? Big mistake.

. Mr. ? (That one is actually my favorite- it translates as: "Dot missed her period. Question Mark." How clever is that, eh?)

    My own:

I haven't smiled since that day.

My hand lingered... she did not.

    Okay. Mine aren't as good. I'm a reader, not a writer. =P

Yeah, I saw this a little while ago. Hemmingway had a really good one that I can't remember off the top of my head. Mine:

    Who are you?
    I don't know!

    Hehe. Again, not as good.
