Once again, I
need to emphasize that I'm not talking about the overall issue of
wrongdoing. What concerns me is your initial post. You still have
not told me why it was acceptable for you to play it loose with the
facts concerning Cheney's interview. You berate the administration
for selective quoting and malicious ommissions, yet you do the same
thing (and this isn't the first time either). Why is that
acceptable?
The administration is expert at using the
media as a propaganda tool. The media is what it is, and the
administration has used it to its full and calculated
advantage.
So it is now your contention that when Cheney
gave that interview, he carefully constructed every sentence on the
fly so as to allow himself the opportunity to misspeak later in the
interview in the hopes that the media would pick up on that one
sentence, ignoring all of the things he said to the contrary, and
use it as the headline? I think you are stretching it a
bit.
Does the administration use the media to their
advantage? Of course they do. It would be absurdly foolish not to,
especially when their enemies, both internal and external, are doing
the same thing.
Again, my concern is your initial post and
why you feel it is necessary to misquote Cheney to make your
point.
